THE OPENING CEREMONY OF BAN KI-MOON INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL EDUCATION
IN SUPPORT OF UNAI (IGE) on May 27th
The United
Nations Academic Impact Korea and Handong Global University held the opening
ceremony of “Ban Ki-moon Institute for Global Education in Support of UNAI
(IGE)” at Handong Global University in Pohang on May 27th. The
ceremony was attended by Dr. Ban Ki-moon (The 8th UN
Secretary-General), Dr. Heinz Fischer (The 11th President of
Austria), and 250 guests from universities, international organizations,
government and NGOs.
IGE is the world’s
first institute in comprehensively providing the advanced global citizenship
education which is Globally Responsible and Advanced Citizenship Education
(GRACE) for sustainable peace and prosperity in the 21st Century.
GRACE School of the IGE will provide the certificate program of “Holistic
Global Citizenship” from the 2nd semester of 2019. The program,
designed based on the core educational philosophy of IGE, “H.U.M.A.N.E.”, will
raise Global Problem Solver (GPS) who are equipped with actual problem-solving
capacities as well as right mindset and attitudes in the era of UN SDGs.
Dr. Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary
General of UN and Honorary President of IGE said in his welcoming speech, “IGE will
foster global citizens through holistic global citizenship education, which
will lead to the achievement of the three pillars of the UN as well as Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).”
Dr. Young-Gil
Kim, President of IGE also mentioned the mission of IGE and said “IGE will
expand the essence of 20-year experience of holistic and global education by
Handong Global University into a new educational paradigm of global citizenship
education with more global perspective.”
